To us at AMG Pump Rentals, professional development encompasses every component of our business; how we operate, how we invest in people, carefully selecting the very best products and equipment – and then supporting and maintaining these for optimum reliability and performance.
What that looks like at our day to day?
It’s about providing up-to-date product and industry training, investing in systems and processes, researching and developing the best equipment and systems and constantly improving the way we apply all of this onto projects. It is our proven combination of people, culture, processes, equipment and relationships which makes us the business we are.
Here are some examplea of our focus on quality and standards with some our team members participating in a mechanical workshop to hone in on their repair and maintenance skills.
Truck driving and safety skills professional development
At AMG Pump Rentals, we strongly believe in the importance of professional and personal growth!
Each client, each job, each day presents us with learning opportunities that equip us with more skills, knowledge, ideas and experiences to deliver the highest quality service for your water needs and projects.
Our team has putting their recent truck driving and safety skills to practice, as they recently completed a remote installation with one of our awesome AMG crane trucks.
By combining their driving, crane operations, field and equipment knowledge together, our team are committed to delivering in a reliable and timely manner.
With such a hands-on learning and growth process, you know you’re in safe hands with the team here at AMG.
BIG thanks as always to our professional and experienced crew who are always committed to grow their skills all over WA through a variety of projects, collecting valuable learnings along the way.
Multidisciplinary skills for AMG apprentices
The AMG Pump Rentals electrical team have also been hard at work, recently completing a a big project: a workshop fitout.
Our team is always on the lookout for opportunities to strengthen and advance our skills and knowledge. A strong focus on training and development helps us to keep ahead of the curve and provide outstanding services to clients through a diverse range of industries.
We believe it’s critical for our apprentices to experience a wide range of industries to develop a well rounded skill set. All too often we see great trades people specialise in one specific industry within their field of expertise.
However, a key driver for AMG’s apprenticeship program is to ensure all our apprentices and staff get the opportunity to add to their repertoire and enhance their professional development by working in all our departments of equipment and services.

The AMG Pump Rentals Team have returned from the NorthWest of WA after supplying a number of turn key packages – installing fully automated bore pump system – for a long term client in the mining and resources sector.
Part of our way of delivering on promise is ensuring that every system is thoroughly workshop tested by our team to the design and duty specifications. This provides peace of mind for our installation crews once they’re on site.
Together, the team has designed solutions with experience, built the solution with proven products and tested for performance and reliability in line with a multitude of potential site scenarios!
Let’s find out more about our work in the North West of WA.
Fully automated bore pump system installed by AMG Pump Rentals
Our project here was one of six installations, focused on upgrading some original construction bores to permanent operational systems.
This included:
- the implementation of fully automated systems and equipment to minimise plant run times, and
- reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
The AMG SafeStart system ensures operational efficiencies as the equipment only operates as required to complete quick fill or transfer programs to maintain dams, turkey nests or holding tanks at capacity.
Another component to the project included the installation of a fully automated washdown bay consisting of an automated electric pumpset, 300m HDPE pipeline installation and HV washpad facility.
Happy clients, happy team!
Our long term mining and resources client now has fully operational water systems throughout the site, which operate autonomously, maintaining all water storage facilities at capacity and dramatically reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
The AMG SafeStart system, installed in all water cart quick fill stations has also seen an immediate improvement in operational efficiencies through safety improvements negating the requirement to continuously disembark heavy vehicles to operate pumping equipment at fill stations.
A big well done to the team on another successful installation. We look forward to the next water project challenge and solutions.

Some of the AMG Pump Rentals team members recently donned full orange hazard suits and respirators as we commenced our water expert solutions and knowledge for a significant WA historical project.
We can’t say much at this stage on what and where the project is nor the full details on what integrated water expert solutions and equipment we provided to fulfil our requirements for the project.
However, stay tuned as we provide more details. In the meantime, we are able to provide some short snippets on the variety of services we have and are providing for this important project.
Not just another rental company…
AMG Pump Rentals deliver projects and solutions for the transfer of water in a variety of operating environments.
We do this by utilising a blend of the highest quality equipment and highly experienced people, our integrated services range from water provision, water transfer, water storage through to extraction, de-watering and boosting inline systems.
In the real world, this sees our team members providing the right advice, planning, equipment, resources, logistics and reporting for each pumping application. A truly integrated and trusted approach.
Our integrated & water expert services in action
In this “soon to be revealed” project in regional WA, our team members provided end to end services.
This included: remote water supply, filtration and treatment, transfer systems, large volume water storage, water cart fill stations, remote telemetry, fully automated pump operations, remote controlled standpipe fill stations, synchronised power stations, LV & HV wash systems.
All of the above mentioned services and supply were all customised to meet this project’s strict operational parameters and limited access, with the customisation occurring in our Carlisle head office and workshop.
As part of the customisation work, our team members tested each and every component, before we stripped, packaged, loaded and shipped nine semi trailers of equipment directly to site with four man crew mobilised.
The result to date
To date, our client has trusted us to install, commission and deliver on our water solutions and supply promise. Again, watch this space as we share more information.

Recently, our AMG Pump and Field Technicians were on site in the Midwest region of WA to conduct a remote bore sustainable yield assessment.
Our technicians worked collaboratively to provide a highly satisfactory and successful outcome for another one of our long term clients in the region.
Borehole sustainable yield assessment explained
This borehole sustainable yield assessment project supports our long term client who is interested in knowing the maximum discharge rate at which they can abstract or pump groundwater so they can be assured of continuously getting that yield from their borehole.
This borehole yield is sometimes referred to as sustainable yield, safe yield or reliable yield.
The estimation of borehole sustainable yield is based on the principles of aquifer pumping tests. To estimate borehole sustainable yield, an appropriate aquifer pumping test needs to be conducted and the data should be analysed using appropriate methods that take into consideration the capacity of the aquifer system and groundwater needs among other factors.
The AMG Pump Rental Way
Our AMG field technicians completed the remote installation and commissioning of the pump system, using a 45kW stainless steel submersible bore pump package.
This successful installation and commission allowed our long term client to complete in field sampling and live hydrological assessments with a turn key solution.

In April 2022, our team members headed up the Murchison region to provide robust and sustainable water solutions project throughout the Shire.
Our team’s work was another example of combining our industry knowledge, expertise in project management, using our highest quality equipment and integrated services range to “deliver on our promise.”
Our water solutions project deliverables
AMG Pump Rentals worked with a client in the Murchison region to complete sustainable yield assessments on a bore network throughout the Shire.
In the initial project design, we already identified the following challenges:
- Limited and extremely boggy access in several locations for us to be able to drive through and to;
- Transporting our high quality and important equipment safely against the wet and muddy conditions we faced to get to our locations.
Our team’s driving skills and the robustness of our equipment were certainly tested under these challenges.
However, our team also thrives on challenges and they safely, carefully and with detail, worked through the difficult applications and extreme access limitations to get to site and perform the bore network assessments.
Bore assessment project results
This project essentially focus on getting data that can be used to assess the quantity and quality of the Shire’s groundwater resources.
Our team delivered on our promise of providing excellent data retrieval from locations that our client considered inaccessible.
We considered this project to be a great win-win-win situation whereby our team members were able to enhance their delivery and safety skills, to ensure that we can deliver on our promise and make sure our clients are happy!

In 2021, our team flew up north to support one of our long term clients to deliver major access road and bridge infrastructure at a WA mine site.
Our state’s mining and resources sector is an important contributor to not only our economy and community but also through their investment in important road infrastructure and transport solutions that allow all of us to travel and do business better, faster and safer.
So our team was very happy to be able to – and always – provide this support and expertise to their water storage solutions, transfer and pumping projects.
AMG’s Water Storage Solution
At this mine site, we provided a remote and enclosed 1ML water storage solutions with a standpipe fill station.
Independent water bladders are linked to a standpipe package including the AMG Safe Start system, enabling the water cart operators to complete fast fills from the comfort of their cabins eliminating the need to climb in and out of their vehicles.
Our Managing Director commented on the importance of this seemingly simple benefit, saying “The ability to reduce climbing in and out of vehicles at these sites is something all operators are very grateful for in the extreme heat of summer, and of course on those very wet and cold winter mornings.”
Ongoing water storage solution
Our team was involved from the early days of project planning to assist with concept design and identifying site locations to best suit our clients’ operation.
Once the design was approved, the AMG projects team prepared, delivered, installed and completed the system commissioning within a very short timeframe.
To this day, we are providing the ongoing monitoring and expert technical support for this water storage solution.

Recently, the AMG Pump Rentals team assisted with the maintenance shutdown for a WA regional water treatment facility.
The facility needed to conduct maintenance works to ensure continued delivery of quality of services and as a result required a short and temporary shutdown to some of their equipment.
Our team installed a temporary water filtration system that is supported by a range of pump assets and also provided on site technicians during the maintenance shutdown.
Essentially, our team provided the water treatment facility with design, implementation, monitoring and technical resourcing for this regional water treatment facility.
A deeper insight into our regional water treatment facility support
As can be imagined, maintenance shutdowns occur across many infrastructure industries. An important consideration for this activity for all businesses we work with is ensuring that even a short shutdown period is supported and does not affect team members and end customers.
AMG’s temporary water filtration system was designed to not include the range of pump sets and an on-site technician as mentioned above, but also remote monitoring to make sure the facility was fully operational during its maintenance works.
Going above and beyond results
Our client was extremely happy with the equipment and technical support they received during their maintenance shutdown.
The experience reflected our company’s commitment to first and foremost understanding our clients’ requirements before implementation and giving them peace of mind and confidence that the system we designed is efficient, effective and importantly, reliable!
In addition, because we are big believers in going the extra mile for our clients, we also provided an unexpected positive outcome.
Upon completion of the project the AMG technicians reviewed the key data obtained via iur remote monitoring system with the projects’ key stakeholders. This provided OFI’s for the original filtration system so that they can extend servicing intervals and reduce overall operational costs.

Since AMG Pump Rentals’ opened its Carlisle doors and offered Western Australian businesses and organisations with an integrated, quality approach to dewatering and water transfer project solutions, our team has continued to grow.
A big part of our company values is ensuring collaboration with not only our clients, but also through the AMG ‘community’; a like minded group of team members, individuals, entities and aligned drivers who support what we do and inspire us to deliver on our promise.
You might have seen us doing exactly this with FISH – Foundation for Indigenous Sustainable Health and Gevolve Solutions.
We are also very pleased to extend this collaboration to one of our dedicated and hard-working team members – Julian “Jules” Bland – who has recently taken up an electrical apprenticeship with us.
We talk to Jules about how hard work and showing up has given him the opportunity to build a new and sustainable career path for himself.

Can you share your AMG Pump Rentals journey to date?
Jules: I have been part of the dewatering industry now for 5+ years. During that time I met Mike and when he went out on his own and opened AMG Pump Rentals, I saw a great opportunity to join the journey.
Knowing Mike’s work ethic and what he shared about AMG Pump Rentals’ approach – a one stop shop for advice, planning, equipment, resources, logistics and reporting for each pumping application – I was immediately interested.
I have been working with AMG for close to 3 years now as a field technician. I recently asked if I can do an electrical apprenticeship and Mike gave me the thumbs up, so now I am getting ready to study at TAFE and learn on the job.
What prompted you to get into electrical apprenticeship?
Jules: Well one of my regrets was not doing a trade when I was younger. When Wayne – the senior electrician joined AMG Pump Rentals and I started helping him out at sites for water solutions projects, I got really interested in it.
So when I asked the AMG team and they said yes to the apprenticeship, I was and am really proud of the opportunity.
What do you enjoy most so far about the apprenticeship?
Jules: Well there is the 4-year TAFE apprenticeship study that I will soon be starting to learn the trade. But so far, shadowing and supporting Wayne has meant that I get to “see” and experience electrical work first hand.
One of my most memorable experiences so far is helping Wayne to build and install control boxes for one of AMG’s long term and valued mining clients.
The control boxes we set up helped to run the complete dewatering and transfer systems with automation and comms to control all assets on site safely and effectively.
What do you think is important to have in a challenging industry like dewatering?
Jules: I think this applies for any industry and not just within dewatering – but you have to show up and own your work and roles every day.
By working hard and having a good work ethic – being on time, being communicative with clients and team members, by making sure you deliver great customer service to clients and supporting each other, you can make something out of yourselves and represent a great team.
You can also contribute to making the business you work for successful, and in turn they help provide you with opportunities for growth and learning.

Thank you, Jules, for sharing your journey and insights on working with AMG and within the dewatering industry.
Make sure you follow us on our LinkedIn page to keep up to date on Jules’ electrical apprenticeship journey and stories as he continues to support water solutions projects across WA.
Start with the Why? is a popular movement by leading author and workplace wellbeing coach, Simon Sinek.
The concept revolves around the fact that people – including our team members and business owners themselves – are inspired by a sense of purpose (or “Why”), and that this should come first when communicating, before “How” and “What”
So What’s our WHY at AMG?
We’ve enjoyed such an incredible journey from the first day we launched our business. We challenge ourselves daily for outcomes greater than most would consider. Our core principle of delivering quality each and every time is powered by our collaboration with not only our clients, but also through the AMG ‘community’; a like minded group of individuals, entities and aligned drivers who support what we do and inspire us to deliver on our promise.
This active community and collaboration has enabled our WHY and in our everyday lives is exemplified by our sponsorship for FISH – Foundation of Indigenous Sustainable Health – in the form of apprenticeships, storage and sorting space and recently, a partnership with our new neighbours, Gevolve Solutions.
Let’s find out more about our new neighbours!

A schedule of activities or a checklist is sometimes what people think about when they think of “project planning.”
Whilst that is partly true, the checklist or schedule element is only a small part of it.
A project plan is the outcome of the project planning process, where a project manager decides, prioritizes, and assigns the tasks and resources necessary to complete a project.
A project manager would develop a plan that covers everything from the water transfer project goals, the problems and/or challenges with the project, the project scope, deliverables, and dependencies, then maps out a path to complete the project successfully.
As part of our integrated approach to our projects – which also encompasses equipment, resources, logistics and reporting for each pumping application – our AMG Pump Rentals team also help clients to forward plan their water transfer and water management requirements.
In this post, we would like to outline our project planning and advisory steps
Asking the project planning and advice questions
AMG Pump Rentals’ forward planning occurs well before a project commences, and can start at the feasibility stages.
During this time, our team members work with identified key stakeholders in our client’s organisation to ask questions about:
- The deliverables
- The project timeline/s
- The members of the project team
- The potential changes and risks of the project, etc.
We’re not afraid to ask the hard questions and this collaborative process helps to ensure that projects are delivered on time, on budget.
Application design
Once we have established all the facts, we move onto the application design stage of our project planning.
In this stage, we work to assess any existing equipment and infrastructure on site, so that we can look to reduce upfront costs, and help deliver a project that is cost efficient for our clients.
Part of the design process is then to factor-in all site and technical requirements, to arrive at the optimum design solution. Once this is in place, we can then generate equipment and resource specifications which properly meet the requirements.
Delivery and implementation of the project
Once the application design is completed we create a delivery schedule that details how, when, what, where will be conducted in order to support our client’s successful water transfer project.
Every system that will be used is then tested in full, before undergoing onsite deployments.
We harness our 20 plus years of experience in the pump industry to deliver our services and equipment.
Results of our project planning and advice
Our project planning and advisory approach ensures that proposals can be executed according to the agreed and calculated project specification.
Our success is evident through our satisfied clients’ testimonials and our team being chosen to deliver one Perth’s major road infrastructure projects and one of WA’s important highways/access roads.
If you are considering a project and want to establish an initial scope, talk to us in the first instance by completing our enquiry form below or calling us on 08 6143 2688.
