AMG delivered a complete AZUD automatic disc filtration system for a mine site processing plant — on time, without disrupting operations

Some projects go exactly to plan — others evolve on site. This one was a genuine test of adaptability, both from the team on the ground and our head office support. When last-minute adjustments were needed at the plant interface, AMG moved quickly to accommodate them without any impact to processing or production. That’s how it should work.

The brief was to design, supply, install, and commission a water filtration solution for a critical processing application — delivered on time, within budget, and within strict environmental regulations. Reliability and efficiency were the KPIs. We hit them.

At the heart of the system is an AZUD automatic disc filter installation, selected for its performance in demanding processing environments. “This system utilises AZUD automatic disc filters with air-assisted backwash, designed to reduce backwash water usage and improve overall filtration efficiency. A great solution for processing applications where water conservation is important.”

The air-assisted backwash mechanism means the system is completely self-cleaning — using significantly less water than conventional approaches. A practical win for both operating costs and environmental compliance.

What AMG delivered

AMG were involved from the very start — working through system design and piping infrastructure before a single component arrived on site. That upfront investment in planning made a real difference when it came time to install.

Scope of work:

• Design consultation and system engineering from the outset
• Supply and installation of the full Azud filtration system
• HDPE piping — crewed and welded on site by AMG
• All specified components, valving, and instrumentation
• Factory acceptance testing (FAT) through to on-site commissioning
• Complete turnkey delivery

When scope needs to flex

Our team was on site for five days. When we arrived, it became clear the scope needed to extend to deliver a fully integrated, self-cleaning system. We adapted swiftly — and the client got the right outcome without any disruption to their operations.

Getting the client to the right result matters more than sticking rigidly to an initial scope. That won’t change.

What comes next

The success of this project has opened a new conversation. The client has now tasked AMG’s Innovation division with solving a long-standing, recurring operational issue — one that’s been difficult to resolve and is operationally critical.

We’re working through a structured process: initial consultation, solution modelling, performance testing, and then a full installation designed to resolve the issue for good. Built into the business case is a cost forecast showing the investment paying for itself over time through ongoing operational savings.

In parallel, AMG has been engaged to explore water solutions addressing long-standing challenges on sites where substantial numbers of occupants require higher levels of health, safety and compliance assurance. AMG Aqua Dust Management | Dust Suppression for WA Mining. A specialist suite for WA mining and bulk handling. Phase one includes Dry Fog (launching first), Wind Fence, High Pressure Fog, and NESCO Water Spray.

WA mining and bulk handling face a persistent dust problem. The health impact is real. So are the shutdowns and clean-ups. To address this, AMG Pump Rentals launches AMG Aqua Dust Management. The new service category comes from the AMG Innovation Division.

The suite is built for harsh, windy sites. Therefore, it helps protect people and keep throughput steady. It also fits tight moisture budgets. In addition, it integrates with existing AMG pump systems..

Dry Fog (launching first): ultra-fine fog that makes fine dust stick together at the source (ROM bins, crushers, transfer points) with minimal added moisture—ideal where moisture budgets are tight and respirable dust must be controlled.

Wind Fence: engineered barriers that reduce wind velocity across stockpiles and open yards, cutting dust lift-off and improving the performance of other controls.

NESCO Water Spray: robust spray systems for conveyors, hoppers and screens to suppress larger particulates while helping manage spillage and carryback.

Why it matters for WA operators
